DPA chief to address seminar

Director general of Dubai Police Academy (DPA) Brigadier Dr Mohammad bin Fahad will be discussing how a strong economy thrives in a secure country at the Police and Fire Middle East Seminar.
The seminar is part of the Intersec Middle East show, which begins tomorrow (January 13) at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Intersec Middle East is the region’s leading international conference and exhibition for commercial security, fire and rescue, homeland security and policing, and safety and health. The other conference agendas are IOSH Middle East Safety and Health Conference, and IT/Cybercrime Conference.
“Intersec 2008 will have an impressive lineup of speakers comprising international experts, civil defence and police officials, industry leaders and suppliers of specialised equipment for the industries related to fire, industrial and occupational safety and health,” said senior show manager of Messe Frankfurt, the trade fair organiser, Angela Schierholz.
“The fair is an international meeting place in the Middle East which is being supported by Dubai Police, Dubai Civil Defence, Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), Build Safe Dubai and numerous other trade and government organizations from across the Middle East Region and around the world,” she added.
Brigadier Fahad, aside from being director general of Dubai Police Academy, is also the chairman and general coordinator of the Shaikh Zayed Prize for Environment. At the conference, he will speak on the subject of “Police Command and Control: Dealing with Disaster”.
In the Policing and Homeland Security section at Intersec Middle East, prominent speakers and experts will speak on the following subjects: “Policing in Conflict Zones: Palestine,” “A European Perspective of Effective Policing”, “Emergency Services Response and the Management of Disasters”, “The Development of Air Support in Police Operations”, “Planning and Preparing for Major Incidents Involving The Transport Sector”.
Brigadier Fahad earlier called for giving priority to setting up of a mechanism of cooperation between public and private sectors in order to achieve a level of security which meets international standards.
The transport system is undergoing rapid development throughout the region. On January 15, an expert panel of speakers will speak about the most progressive solutions for safe-guarding and preventing accidents, for the different means of transportation, including – marine, aviation, and rail.
As the only conference dedicated to homeland security and policing in the Middle East, this event provides attendees with an opportunity to learn what technology and experienced leaders provide for the benefit of protecting operations, and a chance for them to have their needs met and concerns addressed. – TradeArabia News Service
