Bahrain to host 'green' treasure hunt
Manama, December 10, 2007
Eventscom, a Bahrain-based leading events management consultancy, is gearing up to host the fifth annual Coca Cola Environmental Treasure Hunt.
The event will be held under the patronage of head of the Public Commission for the Protection of Marine Resources, Environment and Wildlife Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The event, to be held in April 2008, aims to raise public awareness on environmental issues. Activities are designed to steer people towards the path of a cleaner and greener Bahrain.
“Through the Treasure Hunt, we aim to raise the awareness of the people in Bahrain about environmental problems such as water shortages, pollution, reclamation of land and its effect on marine life, beach pollution, and desertification, to name a few,” said public affairs and communication manager, Coca-Cola Export Corporation, Bahrain, Amer Ahmed.
'Coca Cola (Bahrain) is deeply committed towards its social responsibilities. Protecting the environment is an issue we take very seriously and actively encourage the same commitment from our customers, employees and suppliers,' Ahmed added.
“I applaud Coca Cola for their initiative in environmental awareness and education, and the key role they are playing in changing the environmental behaviour of the community. As a leading company, they exemplify corporate responsibility,' said public relations and environment media head, Public Commission, Zakariya Khonji.
Teams will simultaneously be competing to solve clues, leading them along a pre-determined map route to a wide spectrum of locations, while being monitored by traffic police to ensure they adhere to the laws of the road and speed limits.
In addition to this, there will be a variety of supporting events leading up to the big day which will be open to the public. – TradeArabia News Service
