The finals of the LG SolarDOM Regional Cooking Competition was a close affair as culinary champions from four countries wrestled with each other for the crown in Dubai.
The four-month-old hunt for the cooking champions concluded as over 20 finalists from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and South Africa rounds engaged their skills in creating the best culinary masterpieces during a two-hour session.
The event was hosted by Infinity TV’s celebrity chefs Wadie and Taleen, who encouraged the finalists in their quest for the top spot.
After a grueling competition, Judith Makhubele from South Africa won the first prize in the individual round for her exotic preparation of chicken breast rolls while Sheereen Shawkat from Saudi Arabia and Sanaz Salemi from Iran emerged as first and second runners-up respectively.
Judges awarded Noura Falsi and Laila Rehman from the UAE first place in the team category with their mouth-watering seafood delicacy while Maryam Eftekhari and Fereshteh Asadi from Iran were second.
The LG SolarDOM Regional Cooking Competition is a highly anticipated culinary event of the region and has attracted an overwhelming response in the previous editions. The event is divided into two broad categories - individual and team.
Vice-president and head of America, Asia, Middle East & Africa sales and marketing for LG Electronics Mr. Soon Kwon visited the UAE to attend the finals. Lebanese singer Nourhanne Sharif was also present to entertain audiences with her choicest melodies.
“The entries for the final LG SolarDOM Cooking Competition have been truly remarkable and we have been overwhelmed by the level of professionalism shown by the participants who had been short-listed,” said Kwon.
In the team category, winners received $3,000 in cash while runners-up received $2,000. Individual category winners bagged $2,000, first runner-up $1,000 and the second runner-up $500. – TradeArabia News Service
