Home furnishing sees boom

Dubai:, November 22, 2007

The UAE property boom, highlighted by massive development in Dubai, has led to a huge increase in demand for home furnishings and interiors.

The estimated total number of residential apartments and villas planned for completion in Dubai before 2010 is between 170,000 and 240,000 units, according to IIR Middle East, the organisers of Arabian Home Show.

Consumer demand for furnishing, interior decoration and gardening and landscaping is fuelled further by the estimated 100,000 people moving to Dubai every year, contributing to a population growth of seven per cent per annum, the organisers said in a statement.

It all adds up to a huge opportunity for the home furnishing and interiors industry as home owners splash out, and suppliers are being given a double opportunity to capitalise by the UAE’s leading home interiors and accessories exhibition for consumers, they said.

The Arabian Home Show will feature separate editions in Abu Dhabi and Dubai next year to cater to demand in both the UAE capital and Dubai and the northern Emirates.

The Arabian Home Show Abu Dhabi, running alongside The Bride Show Abu Dhabi,  takes place from February 5-8, 2008, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

Meanwhile, The Arabian Home Show Dubai, held in conjunction with The Bride Show Dubai, runs from April 23-26, 2008, at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre.

The two events provide companies in the home furnishing market with an ideal opportunity to reach new homeowners moving into their recently purchased villas or apartments.

“We’re seeing increased competition between interior and home furnishing companies, and they have a great opportunity to stand out in front of consumers who have homes to decorate and fill,” said Daphne Cota, exhibition manager for The Arabian Home Show.

“There is a pressing demand for this type of exhibition in the UAE, especially during the current property boom. They will attract a range of home owners, from buy-to-let investors to families who need to make their new property into a comfortable home,” said Cota. – TradeArabia News Service
