Emirates Catering achieves five-star rating

Dubai, November 3, 2007

Emirates Flight Catering's two divisions - Food Point and Linencraft - have achieved a five-star rating for its health and safety management system in recognition of its excellence in providing a high level of safe working practices in the workplace.

Owned by the Emirates Group, the facility provides inflight catering services daily to over 100 airlines, including Emirates, that fly into Dubai International Airport.

"Occupational health and safety is an integral part of managing any business as its people are the most important asset to protect and nurture," said executive vice-president and CEO Haroon Siddiqui.

"Health and safety management is a core value for Emirates Flight Catering and I am very pleased that we have achieved this five-star rating.  Implementing safe working practices means a healthy working environment and a high standard of service for our customers," he added.

The Five-Star Health & Safety Management System rating, awarded by Canada-based Safety Projects International, verifies systematically 78 inter-related elements, with 300 sub-elements, covering every area of the company, with extensive interviews with staff.

"I congratulate Emirates Flight Catering for achieving this highly sought-after five-star rating, the first company in the region to receive this rating in the past 14 years," said managing consultant of Safety Projects International Dr Bill Pomfret. - TradeArabia News Service
