New water bottling unit launched
Manama, August 2, 2007
Bahrain Water Bottling and Beverages Company has opened a new polyethylene terraphthallate (Pet) bottling unit in Samaheej.
The BD67,000 plant is capable of producing 16.8 million bottles of water a year.
The unit was activated yesterday by Trafco chairman Mohammed Ibrahim Zainal.
The company produces Delta, Tylos and Salsabil water brands.
The drinking-water producing company was bought out in February by Bahrain-based General Trading and Food Processing (Trafco), which was previously the major shareholder holding 41 per cent of the shares of the company.
The new unit will double the capacity of the plant.
Of the 16.8m bottles produced every year, 60pc are sold in Bahrain whilst the remaining 40pc are exported to Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
The company intends to spend a further BD35,000 in the upcoming months to purchase a new water filling machine to increase productivity.
They also plan to re-launch their Delta water brand with a new labelling and design sometime in November. - TradeArabia News Service
