Riyadh, August 1, 2007
Saudi national Ibrahim Naji Al Qallaf has won the grand first prize in a Lurpak contest.
Lurpak, the world’s most famous maker of butter and ghee, announced the winner of their biggest competition in the region.
Ibrahim Naji Al Qallaf was one of over 28,000 people who entered the competition which focused on the UAE; Saudi Arabia; Bahrain; Kuwait; Qatar; Oman; Jordan; Syria and Lebanon.
“My family and I always use Lurpak products as we trust the quality,” said the 28-year-old winner.
The largest percentage of entries came from Saudi Arabia which has been one of the biggest markets for Lurpak for 40 years.
His name was drawn at a big event in Jeddah.
The competition focused on Lurpak’s new theme of ‘Make every meal a special occasion’ and Lurpak butlers were stationed in supermarkets and stores to add excitement and to demonstrate that LURPAK really is an everyday luxury and can be used in all styles of cooking.
Al Qallaf has won the grand first prize which is an all expenses paid trip to Scotland staying at the beautiful Inverlochy Castle, near Ben Nevis.
Inverlochy Hotel was recently voted the best hotel in Europe and, in keeping with the ‘make every meal a special occasion’ theme dinner at Inverlochy is an experience to savour with a menu that features British cuisine which is internationally recognised by all major guides.
The castle has been awarded AA 3 red Rosettes and 1 Michelin Star.
Al Qallaf, 28, said of his win: “I cannot believe I have won this amazing prize.
“My family and I always use Lurpak products as we trust the quality.
“I would like to thank Lurpak for their generosity – all of the prizes in the competition are worth winning and I am so lucky to have won the grand prize.” Al Qallaf will be taking his wife and 11 month old baby on the trip and is already ready up on Scotland and its beauty.
Other Lurpak winners will get dinner invitations in luxury hotels located around the region.
Many of the entrants also received silver domes as shown in the Lurpak butler adverts. These domes are often seen in five-star hotels to serve food at tables and now this special touch can be taken home and will be seen in many homes around the region. TradeArabia News Service
