Fluor wins US army contract
IRVING (Texas), July 3, 2007
Fluor Corporation said its government group had bagged a Logistics Civil Augmentation Program (Logcap) IV contract from the US Army.
The indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (ID/IQ) contract has a performance period of one base year with nine one-year renewal options.
Established by the US Army to fulfil the department of defence's global mission during contingency events, Logcap provides the military with additional capabilities to rapidly support and augment the logistic requirements of its deployed forces through use of a civilian contractor.
Fluor was one of three companies chosen as executing contractors for the US Army's Logcap contracts through a competitively-bid and highly transparent process which resulted in the best value for the Army.
The maximum value to any single yearly contract may be up to $5 billion. Work will be competitively bid by the US Army on a task order basis. The proposal process lasted approximately 18 months.
'This is a great opportunity to serve the American soldiers and to provide the support they need to complete their missions around the world,' said John Hopkins, president of Fluor's Government Group.
'We are proud that Fluor and our employees were chosen for this important role and we look forward to delivering quality and value for the Army.'
Fluor has earlier served the US Government on Logcap II as well as in a variety of other areas including mission support in Iraq and Afghanistan, military construction around the world, hurricane relief in Gulf Coast, earthquake relief in the Western US and nuclear decommissioning at government-owned sites.
