Microsoft plans media awards

Microsoft Corporation has invited entries from journalists from the print media in the region for the Pan-Arab Media Awards 2007.
The awards are in recognition of the media’s efforts in raising awareness about Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in the Arab world and the issues associated with piracy and counterfeiting software, said a Microsoft spokesman.
The awards will be in the following categories: Best opinion piece; Best investigative piece; Best news article; Best feature article and Best interview. A panel of judges will select a winner from each category.
This year, journalists from Egypt, the six GCC countries and the Levant region, will also be in the race, he said.
The winners will be presented the awards at a gala function on October 25 in the presence of several dignitaries associated with IPR initiatives, he added.
The last date for submitting the entries is August 7. - TradeArabia News Service
