The UAE is playing a significant role in augmenting the Gulf media landscape, and has emerged as a prominent hub for key forums that address the current state and future trajectory of diverse sectors, reported Wam, cited a top official.

"The GCC countries share a strong bond, working collaboratively on important issues. We have unified messages that extend beyond media; they encompass political, economic, social, and educational spheres," said Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, on the sidelines of the Arab Media Summit 2024.

“Regular meetings on these topics, including media, ensure we remain aligned and effective," he added.

AlBudaiwi pointed out that the media industry was playing a crucial role as a catalyst for change.

He emphasised on the significance of continuing to advance Gulf cooperation in various paths, including economic, political, and social fields, while strengthening media capabilities that play a vital role in enhancing comprehensive Gulf development.

Highlighting the recent Gulf media ministerial meeting held in Qatar, AlBudaiwi said that the meeting focused on strengthening the role of Gulf countries, their shared media messages, and public pronouncements.

It aimed, he said, to revitalise the media sector and enhance the work of the Committee of Information Ministers. He emphasised the need to develop media capabilities alongside other development priorities.
