Alfahim, UAE Triathlon ink new 3-year partnership

ABU DHABI, June 21, 2018

Alfahim, one of the UAE’s most successful family businesses, has announced a new three-year partnership deal with the UAE Triathlon Federation.

The tie-up will see the Abu Dhabi-based conglomerate work closely with the Federation to increase the number of triathlon events held across the UAE, as well as boost the number of Emiratis and residents taking part in sports on a regular basis.

The new partnership will support the Federation in hosting a greater number of projects, from grassroots sporting events to major national and international competitions. With the support of Alfahim, the Federation is aiming to have as many as 3,500 athletes of all ages line-up for the 2019 edition of the ITU World Triathlon Abu Dhabi on Yas Island.

Mohammed Abdulla Al Fahim, group head of Business Development in Alfahim, said: “As an Emirati-owned organization, we are committed to promoting healthy living styles in UAE, as well as facilitating a more active culture that will benefit all members of society.

“Moreover, in line with our corporate social responsibility strategy which highlights the importance of empowering Emiratis, this collaboration will further hearten UAE nationals to participate in this challenging sport and represent the UAE in global competitions.”

Dr Aamer Al Ameri, head of the Financial Committee for the UAE Triathlon Federation, said: “Our tie-up reflects the commitment of both institutions to the continued progress of the UAE and the long-term wellbeing of its people.

“We look forward to a successful working arrangement in the years ahead as the Federation continues to promote the UAE as one of the leading destinations for sports in the region and globally.”

One of the toughest forms of endurance competition with athletes taking part in back to back swimming, cycling and running races, triathlons have increased in popularity in the UAE in recent years.

While regular events attract both amateur and elite level adult athletes from the sporting community, more and more youngsters are taking part in specially organised shorter distance triathlons.

In 2017, more than 300 children competed in the junior level ITU World Triathlon Abu Dhabi, more than double the number of participants from the inaugural 2015 event.

Alfahim has a proud history of endorsing sporting events in the UAE which inspire people into a more active lifestyle having partnered with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council to help continue the phenomenal success of the HSBC Championship, the Abu Dhabi Tour and the Mubadala Tennis Championship, among others. – TradeArabia News Service
