DUBAI, February 11, 2018

Majid Al Futtaim Group will show select sessions of the World Government Summit (WGS), being held in Dubai, at key VOX Cinemas locations across the Middle East.

The sessions will be combined in themed films, showcasing discussion highlights by esteemed guest speakers from the summit.

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the World Government Summit 2018 runs from February 11 to 13 at the Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai. The landmark event convenes more than 4,000 participants from 140 countries, including heads of state and governments, as well as top-tier representatives of 16 international organizations.

Hosting more than 130 speakers across 120 interactive sessions, WGS 2018 features six distinct forums that examine the challenges of vital sectors for the future with a view to finding the best resolutions for the greater global good. Furthermore, over 20 specialized global reports spanning key sectors and topics of the summit will be launched throughout the duration of the event.

The film events, which are themed “Global Dialogue for Happiness” and “Climate Change: It Affects You”, will be open to the public and free-of-charge.

Speaking on the partnership to widen the audience of WGS 2018, Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Happiness, director general of the Prime Minister’s Office, and Vice-President of World Government Summit Organization, said: "Through this partnership, we hope to share knowledge with the regional community, especially with regard to policies that promote people’s happiness and wellbeing.”

Al Roumi added that this remarkable project contributes to spreading key insights shared from the World Government Summit on a wider canvas and informing the public of prominent discussions that affect their lives and future. This initiative could “help spark positive change across the region to contribute to sustainable development and improve the quality of life in society,” she said.

For his part, Dr Thani Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, said: “Our partnership with VOX Cinemas will significantly increase global awareness of the impact that climate change will have on both current and future generations."

Al Zeyoudi stressed that the World Government Summit that hosts the Climate Change Forum has become a global platform to highlight the adverse impact of climate change and build global ties to meet this challenge.
