Dubai Crown Prince has 1m Twitter followers

DUBAI, February 22, 2015

HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, now has one million followers on information-sharing and distribution platform Twitter, making him the second most followed leader in the UAE.

HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (@HHShkMohd), Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, leads the way in the country with 3.68 million followers.

This milestone comes as more global and regional leaders embrace the real-time platform, including the new Saudi King Salman (@KingSalman), whose popularity on Twitter recently skyrocketed following his appointment as ruler of Saudi Arabia, said a statement.

Sheikh Hamdan (@HamdanMohammed) joined Twitter in March 2010, and uses the platform to discuss policies and various initiatives undertaken by the government. As Dubai looks to position itself a hub of innovation in the region with the vision to become a fully connected smart city leading up to Expo 2020, Sheikh Hamdan’s Twitter feed provides a unique insight into planning and execution of various initiatives, while also showcasing his love for the UAE.

He also uses Twitter to share his #MyDubai experiences, a campaign he launched on Twitter last year to create an autobiography of Dubai through photos and videos from its residents and visitors. - TradeArabia News Service
