Hilton supports children's charity

Cairo, February 1, 2012

Hilton Worldwide recently marked its partnership with leading Egypt-based children’s charity, Ana El Masry Foundation, with the announcement of two major development programmes designed to offer tangible help for the charity’s long term future.

Hilton is giving four teenagers from the foundation an opportunity to work across a number of departments at its five-star Hilton Pyramids Golf Resort, as part of their ongoing commitment to the foundation.

In addition, the company is also providing manpower, expertise and support in the development of new Cairo-based premises for the charity, which opened in Q4 2011, said a statement from Hilton.

The on-site training programme at the golf resort will see the youngsters learning new skills in a range of hotel departments including food and beverage, housekeeping and maintenance.

All four will visit each department on rotation giving them the widest possible comprehensive experience and helping to develop their individual abilities. This latest scheme follows a similar programme staged last year at Ramses Hilton Hotel in Cairo.

Michael Edward, social advisor for Ana El Masry, said: “The teenagers will offer additional help with our new premises which is invaluable in giving the charity a solid base and a focal point for children to meet in the future.”

The resort hosted two charity events last year specifically for Ana El Masry to celebrate its success and spread positive vibes among both the children and the hotel team, the statement said.

The Ana El Masry Foundation was established in 2008 with the primary aim of tackling the issue of children living on the streets of Cairo. It focuses on providing street children with essential care and services and helping them become integrated into society with a range of practical and constructive opportunities.

The charity also works with low-income families and marginalised communities helping to prevent those at risk from turning to the streets, it said.

Christian Grage, vice president operations, Hilton Worldwide, Egypt & Levant said: “Our aim with the Ana El Masry partnership is to offer real support and guidance by taking the children off the streets and into our hotels for training and experience across a range of departments.”

“Our programmes give these youngsters a taste of employment, often for the first time, and help to develop the necessary skills to help them secure a job in the future,” Grage said. – TradeArabia News Service
