Bahraini tech firms out in force at Gitex
DUBAI, October 7, 2017
A total of 45 ICT (information and communications technology) companies will be there at Gitex Technology Week in Dubai alongside Bahrain Economic Development Board, Information and eGovernment Authority.
This is the 11th year the Bahrain Pavilion is bringing its brightest ICT companies to the leading annual IT event. Bahrain Technology Companies Society (BTech) and Tamkeen are also taking part.
"As a strategic partner, we are playing yet another active role towards stressing Bahrain’s regional leading position in ICT sector and its practices," remarked Tamkeen's chief excutive Dr Ebhraim M. Janahi.
Janahi said its support to the Bahrain’s Pavilion at Gitex is an eminent opportunity to showcase the products of the kingdom's companies and open the door for greater expansion as well as for exchange of expertise with leading international ICT companies.
The first Bahrain Tech Awards will be given away on Monday (October 9) at Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai.
BTech president Ubaidli Al Ubaidli said this year there has been a 30 per cent increase in the number of companies from Bahrain taking part in the event over last year.
He pointed out that the expansion of Bahrain's participation in Gitex every year was a good indicator of the growing industry of Information Technology in Bahrain.
“Recording a Bahraini presence in this international forum for makers of information technology around the world was the main goal during our earlier participations. Now after nine years of the first participation, our goal has become clearer," remarked Al-Ubaidli.
"It is now promoting and enhancing the ICT industry in the kingdom, raising the Bahraini companies’ share from 6 to 10 per cent in the IT investments market in the GCC which is nearly $30 billion,” he stated while speaking on the sidelines of the signing ceremony between BTech and Work Smart.
Work Smart CEO Ahmed Al Hujairi said the company was as usual keen to choose a great location for the Bahraini pavilion at Gitex, an open design and including a permanent display screen in which an on-going promotions about Bahrain's economic and investment advantages, are shown.
There is also a place to display products and services for the participating Bahraini companies, he explained.
Al Hujairi pointed out that co-ordination was being done with other pavilions and participants at the event to organize mutual visits.
“All our efforts are in the service of participating Bahraini companies which are willing to invest in this global meeting to enter into new partnerships and increase their business and profits,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
