Huawei launches ICT training in Kuwait

KUWAIT, September 6, 2017

Huawei Technologies, a leading global ICT solutions provider, recently launched its national educational programme aimed at enhancing local skills of the youth within the IT domain in Kuwait.

The programme ‘Seeds for the Future’ is being launched strategic partnership with the Ministry of State for Youth Affairs in Kuwait for the fourth year in a row.

The programme will enable creative thinkers from universities across Kuwait to participate in a professional ICT training and educational trip to China to receive cutting-edge technology training in a cross-cultural environment.

The programme plans to develop ICT skills among Kuwaitis and empower them to be at the forefront of innovation by bridging the gap between academic knowledge and hands-on experience acquired at Huawei’s own state of the art technology labs, R&D centre and practical training facilities at Huawei Headquarters in Shenzhen, China.

They will benefit from interactions with Huawei staff and live demonstrations of the latest technologies such as 5G, big data and cloud computing and other technical solutions presently required which demands working on multiple sectors to aid Kuwait’s transition towards the age of digitization.

The programme is open to recently graduated high achievers or senior Kuwaiti students with a background in engineering, business, finance, accounting and economics who have a GPA score of 3.0 or above.

The selection process will be conducted through a Toss of ‘Random Selection’ through the Ministry of State for Youth Affairs website between September 3 and 28. The shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by the Huawei team of judges who will then select the brightest minds to represent tomorrow’s leaders of innovation and contribute to transforming Kuwait into a digital country.

Trevor Liu, Huawei Technologies Kuwait CEO stated: “Seeds for the Future has been a tremendous success regionally and globally and we are very pleased to see the results achieved by the programme, which is a clear reflection of our long-term commitment to support the development of our communities and nurture local talent in Kuwait.

“Through a close collaboration with public authorities and academic institutions, this new platform seeks to empower the young generation of Kuwaitis to leverage technology as an enabler for sustainable growth and prosperity, in alignment with the Kuwaiti government’s strategic vision.”

Selected students will kick off their ICT training experience on the October 15 at Huawei Innovation and Training Center in Kuwait, followed by a trip to Beijing from October 30 to November 10 to immerse each into the Chinese language and culture and visit world renowned tourist attractions such as the Great Wall of China and the Forbidden City, before heading off to Huawei’s HQ in Shenzhen. – TradeArabia News Service
