Integration role seen for wearable tech
WASHINGTON, September 13, 2016
It’s important to realize that a wearable device in enterprise is not just a standalone device, said an industry expert.
“It’s all about what it communicates with, whether it’s the devices around the environment or whether it’s to back-end systems, whether it’s things like people scheduling systems, asset management systems, instructions, work orders all that type of stuff,” explained Erik Jacobson, European Lead, Wearable Technology Practice at Accenture, a leading global professional services company.
“So, apart from the actual device and figuring out how people use it, it is also about integration,” he noted.
“The enterprise space is actually about measuring actual efficiency changes or safety improvements as well.
“So for instance the number of accidents reduction, that sort of thing or perhaps return on investment in terms of efficiency saving or whether it’s knowing where people are, whether it’s giving them the information they need at the right time delivered at the right place. So all of this stuff can be measured and industry is clearly starting to do that now,” Jacobson added. – TradeArabia News Service
