Dubai’s Mosaikx wins start-up showdown

DUBAI, March 30, 2016

Dubai-based Mosaikx, a designer and developer of application-specific software and wearable hardware, has edged out five other regional start-up companies to win The Hive - a start-up showdown held at Future Technology Week.

Mosaikx’s novelty product, Hipo, the world’s first modular and wearable smart recorder claimed the Dh50,000 ($13,600) top prize as judges lauded the pioneering wearable’s capacity to digitally transcribe the wearer’s speech via a user-friendly mobile app.

Designed with an artificial intelligence algorithm, Hipo allows users to store and organise their verbal musings in a fun and easy way. The versatile product has also embraced fashion, with users able to customise Hipo into a necklace, wristband or clip based on their outfit.

“As the only regional event that collects all the region’s IoT and hardware companies, Future Technology Week has been a great experience for us because we see ourselves as an IoT company. IoT is the future of humanity and the way devices and objects are going to communicate will change the way humans live and how our societies operate,” said Sina Torabi, CEO and co-founder of Mosaikx.

“We’re one of the very few IoT companies based in Dubai that is building a smart product from scratch. Our technology doesn’t exist anywhere in the world and The Hive has provided a platform for us to share our technology with a community that understands exactly what our product is all about.”

Organised by Dubai World Trade Centre (DWC), The Hive brought together the region’s leading young entrepreneurs to pitch unique start-up concepts that can solve today’s greatest technology challenges.

Future Technology Week is the new umbrella brand collecting four of the region’s leading technology events: Gulf Information Security Expo & Conference (GISEC), the Internet of Things Expo (IoTX), The Big Data Show and Gulf Enterprise Mobility Exhibition & Conference (GEMEC). The fair ends on March 31 at DWTC. – TradeArabia News Service
