Datamena in tie-up with Iraq’s ScopeSky

DUBAI, December 10, 2015

UAE-based datamena, a carrier neutral data centre and connectivity platform, has announced a new network tie-up with ScopeSky, Iraq’s first licensed carrier-class fiber optic company.

ScopeSky chose to deploy a point of presence (PoP) within the datamena ecosystem. The deployment will extend ScopeSky’s International Network, adding Dubai to its existing presence in London and Frankfurt.

ScopeSky will use the UAE-IX (Internet Exchange) to connect with content delivery networks existing within datamena and the UAE-IX (internet exchange).

Datamena is a hub where regional and international carriers are present, which makes it easy to interconnect and provide a variety of services. datamena enables direct low-latency access to the key markets in Mena and West and Central Asia. Its carrier-neutral model allows customers to meet, interconnect and do business together from a single location in the heart of the Middle East.

Fahad Al Hassawi, chief commercial officer at du, said: “We are thrilled to welcome ScopeSky to the datamena ecosystem as it develops its business in the Middle East. Our aim is to ensure that they have simple, yet effective solutions for local presence, connectivity, peering, and data centre services. datamena offers state of the art facilities that will provide ScopeSky with a solid connection directly to the partners and carriers that add value to their business.”

ScopeSky has entered into a joint agreement with the Investment and Technology Group Company (ITC), which has the right of use for the Gulf Bridge International submarine cable to reach Dubai from Iraq.

“ScopeSky is pleased to have its point of Point of Presence in datamena. Collaborating with regional and international carriers, CDNs, and content providers we believe this presence will ensure that our customers have the access to more alternatives, enhanced QoS and SLAs,” said Mohammed Lateef, executive sales manager, ScopeSky Communications.

"By connecting Iraq to datamena with a very low latency, we are creating new opportunities for the regional and international carriers to serve their customers more efficiently inside Iraq and provide more options of connectivity," said Marwan Abdelqader, chief commercial officer, Investment and technology Group of companies (ITC). – TradeArabia News Service
