Mobily, Google in direct carrier billing pact

RIYADH, December 5, 2015

Saudi-based Etihad Etisalat (Mobily) said it has started direct carrier billing service with Google to make it easier for Android users to purchase apps, games, and digital content on their devices.

With the introduction of the new service, Mobily’s customers can now make any online purchase transaction through the Google Play Store by paying for their purchases via their mobile phone balance without the need of using their credit cards, said a statement from the Saudi telecom firm.

Direct Carrier Billing allows users of select mobile operators to pay for digital content on Google Play by billing purchases to their mobile accounts; postpaid or prepaid.

Once the payment option is set up, customers will be able to charge app and content purchases from the Play Store directly to their mobile accounts.

Mobily said it had launched the service to enrich its customer experience in line with its strategy that aims to empower the customers with a wide range of choices.-TradeArabia News Service
