Ooredoo in tie-up with operators to tackle global issues

KUWAIT, September 27, 2015

Ooredoo Kuwait, a major telecom operator, will join hands with operators around the world in a global effort to eradicate extreme poverty, fix climate change and fight inequality and injustice.

Dubbed the “World’s Biggest Mobile Connection” Ooredoo Kuwait, alongside operators in over 100 countries, will amplify messages about the 17 Global Goals which will be signed at the United Nations Headquarters in New York this week.

Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, CEO at Ooredoo Kuwait said: “Ooredoo is committed to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals which aim to eradicate extreme poverty, improve the lives of people and create an all-round healthier world for tomorrow. In particular, we believe in the power of mobile broadband to enrich people’s lives and we work hard to stimulate human growth and contribute to the sustainable development of the communities we operate in.”

Ooredoo will focus its efforts on three areas: “Good Health”, “Gender Equality” and “Innovation & Infrastructure”.

Mijbil Alayoub, director Corporate Communications for Ooredoo Kuwait said: “The Global Goals set an ambitious agenda, yet they are heavily reliant on the private sector’s pledged commitment to achieve their targets.  We have outlined some of the ways in which we are already working to transform these mission statements into a reality.  Our commitment is that we will build on these, further their reach and continue to innovate as we work to create a better tomorrow for all.” – TradeArabia News Service
