Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Centre (ADSIC), the government entity responsibly for the emirate’s ICT agenda, showcased its efforts in enabling the digital transformation of government services and delivery through a number of innovative added-value multiple digital channels during the Bahrain International e-Government Forum 2015 recently.

The five-day knowledge sharing ICT event aimed at bringing together the brightest minds and the latest solutions in the global e-Government arena, with a focus on the private sector, said a statement.

Rashed Lahej Al Mansoori, director general at ADSIC, said: “ADSIC’s participation in the Bahrain International e-Government Forum 2015 provided an ideal platform for us to highlight our ongoing efforts in raising ICT awareness and strengthening e-government capacity building in the UAE’s capital.

“It was definitely inspiring to be among a number of prominent international speakers who came together to share their visions, experiences and future forecasts regarding international e-government technologies.

“Our commitment to raising knowledge and competency levels of our government constituents can been seen in all our operations and events such as the Bahrain Forum, provide a direct opportunity to gain insights about how best to  improve our ICT policies, standards, and guidelines to help safeguard and improve the quality of Government information assets.”

As part of ADSIC’s participation in the conference, Khawla Al Fahim, acting executive director of SDI delivered a detailed overview on the centre’s vision and strategic objectives as it builds a robust and sustainable e-Government infrastructure in Abu Dhabi.

The senior ADSIC executive also shed the spotlight on the importance of developing a wide range of shared government ICT platforms to facilitate the deployment and sustenance of security and high performance, while implementing shared government ICT systems and applications to ensure the provisioning of effective overnment services.

Al Fahim also gave an overview on Abu Dhabi’s Geo Spatial Data Infrastructure, also known as (SDI), which utilises GIS data as a fundamental infrastructure component for national, physical, cultural and economic development, from highways to telecommunications, networks to health care and education to tourism facilities.

SDI also plays a key role in utility management, land records, urban planning, emergency and environmental management, in addition to the fields of transportation and commerce.

“SDI has empowered the Abu Dhabi Government and society by offering convenient, open-access and up-to-date geographic information and spatially enabled e-government services, which have visibly increased Government services per channel,” said Al Fahim.

In recent years, ADSIC has managed to achieve significant advances in the ICT domain by prioritising its operations in line with Abu Dhabi’s overarching national policies in order to contribute to various economic sectors directly.

This included areas such as ICT enterprise agreements that contribute to social and human resources, electronic student information system, digital literacy initiatives, Jobs Abu Dhabi Portal, Abu Dhabi e-Government Porta and No Objection Certificates Program. - TradeArabia News Service
