Infovsion hosts training over IT security revision

Manama, August 3, 2014

Infovision Consultants recently conducted the first ever ISO 27001:2013 training in Bahrain after the standard had been revised earlier in 2013 for delegates from various high profile organisations.

Infovision organised the training course after the standard had been revised based on the Annex SL Management System Standards framework. Delegates were trained on the updates in the standard.

Harinder Singh, the lead tutor for Infovision during his keynote address said: “‘We live in an era where information is critical to an organisation’s success and given the proliferation of technology organisations are facing new challenges in terms of information security.”

The training programme was coupled with group activities, discussions and live examples based on Infovision’s practical experiences of implementing Information Security Systems. The training covered the new requirements for risk assessments practically covering the context of the organisation and its relevance to internal and external factors and interested parties.

“These kind of trainings  typically adopt a case study approach where attendees are able to benefit from learning about the experiences of other organisations,” explained Mobin Sheikh, principal consultant and director for RealConsult .

The standard is set to be the new benchmark guideline for all the companies opting for ISO/IEC 27001 certifications in future and is believed to play a critical role in establishing and maintaining a robust mechanism for ensuring protection against data losses, theft of information, intellectual property while at the same time assuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information as required by the organisation.

The risk assessment framework of the standard doesn’t just promote protection of information and identifies the threats but it also serves as a guideline to capitalize on any anticipated opportunities that may be beneficial to organisations. – TradeArabia News Service
