Dubai, March 25, 2014
UAE’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) today (March 25) hosted a workshop on quality standards for websites and e-services in government entities at its Dubai office with the participation of all UAE federal entities.
This step comes as part of the TRA’s ongoing efforts to implement UAE eGovernment Strategy 2010-2012 initiatives and boosting the e-transformation process on the nation’s level.
The workshop entitled "Launching Quality Standards for websites and e-services in Government Entities” started with an opening speech delivered by Hamad Obaid Al Mansouri, deputy director general of Information and eGovernment Sector at TRA, followed by a presentation about new standards that should be adopted in the government entities’ official websites.
The UAE Computer Emergency Response Team (aeCERT) discussed all aspects of the strategies and standards needed to maintain security, privacy of information and data. The workshop concluded with a presentation on quality standards of e-services presented by the TRA’s e-Transformation team.
"Firstly, we would like to recognize the great efforts exerted by all government entities to develop their websites, portals and electronic services,” said Al Mansouri.
“This work constitutes a fundamental pillar in our shared endeavors to establish a strong eGovernment and then mGovernment at the federal level. This workshop serves as a unique interactive platform for exchanging ideas and insights in this area between the representatives of government entities in addition to sharing experiences and taking advantage of available competencies with regards to cyber security at the federal level.
"This workshop is one of the more important stations within the e-transformation strategy that brings government entities together to exchange knowledge and develop expertise. I would like to emphasize that the new standards are the result of concerted efforts and collaboration with stakeholders in the UAE federal and local government entities, as we are all determined to achieve our goals in line with the ambitious vision of our wise leadership,” he added.
Hosting this workshop by the TRA is part of its wider strategy to provide the best and top notch e-services in the UAE in order to establish a strong and robust basis for the completion of the mGovernment transition process in the specified timeline by mid next year. – TradeArabia News Service
