Saudi-based telecom company Mobily said its platform has registered a new record in the number of applications that were downloaded by the subscribers through (Mobily App Store), which crossed the three million barrier.

Mobily said there had been a 200 per cent jump in the number of downloads made by users compared to last year.

The (Mobily App Store) is the only one of its kind in the Kingdom, and reflects the company's passion for inventing new products for the company to maintain its pioneering in this field. Mobily took several initiatives in the field of applications that put the company as one of the pioneering in this area, said a statement from the telecom firm.

The users have been downloading all types of applications available in the platform, it stated

The App Store is a qualitative step for the sake of diversity of applications content, since the company took into account the diversity between games, entertainment, travel , news and more. Moreover, the applications are compatible with many operating systems such as Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone, Symbian, and Java.

This move reflects a transitional shift in the prevalence of smartphones in the Kingdom and the subsequent growth in the use of applications.

The devastating amount of flow towards applications reflects Mobily’s deep insight to keep pace with the rapid growth in the use of smart phones. This was realized when Mobily launched a special App store supporting most operating smartphones systems, it added.

Mobily pointed out that the main objective with the App Store was to enrich the Arabic knowledge context in smart phones in addition to the diversity of their own product portfolio, which met all the subscribers needs and  provided them with exceptional customer experiences.-TradeArabia News Service
