Etisalat offers security for eLife customers
Abu Dhabi, December 2, 2013
Etisalat, a leading telecom group in the UAE, has announced it will offer Symantec’s Norton Internet Security software, with up to three licenses, to new and existing eLife and al Shamil customers.
Norton Internet Security, which protects against viruses and spyware and provides a range of customisable parental controls and online tech support, is available on a monthly, subscription basis through Etisalat.
Customers can opt for one of two monthly packages -- Dh15 ($4) for one license or Dh20 for three licenses -- and are free to cancel their subscription at any time without penalty, a statement said.
Symantec’s Internet Security Threat Report, Volume 18, issued earlier this year, revealed a 42 percent increase in targeted attacks globally in 2012 as compared to the prior year. In the report, the UAE was ranked second highest in the Middle East for phishing hosts and ranked fourth in the Middle East for outbound malicious code and spam.
Rashed Majed Alabbar, vice president, Home Product Marketing, Etisalat said: “The Internet is integral to our daily lives and cyber threats are becoming more sophisticated by the day. Cyber criminals are devising new techniques and targeting vulnerable consumers whom lack adequate security practices.”
“As Symantec’s reports highlight, cyber attacks continue to increase and security measures have to be beefed up. Etisalat realises the increasing risk of cyber threats in the UAE and Middle East region and therefore is committed to providing up-to-date security products to enhance its internet users’ experience”.
“By offering up to three licenses of Norton’s comprehensive security package, we are giving customers the opportunity to protect more than just one device and securing their entire network at home.” – TradeArabia News Service
