Batelco reveals new anti-spam solution

Manama, February 25, 2013

Bahrain-based Batelco has announced the implementation of a highly sophisticated system with advanced features, designed to enhance customers’ broadband experience and protect their accounts as well as internet networks from email spam.

The anti-spam solution will ensure that no email spam is being generated from any broadband email account, a statement from the telecommunications company said. The solution will not invade user privacy or monitor email content, it will merely use advanced metrics to detect and prevent spam from being sent or received, resulting in a reduction of the number of fixed IPs being blacklisted for intentional or unintentional spam generation.

Email is one of the most important means of communication. Therefore, Batelco places a lot of emphasis on protecting email subscribers and ensuring that email activities remain safe and guarded, the statement said. With the implementation of the new anti-spam solution, Batelco ensures that customers only receive the emails they want while the delivery of unwanted emails is prevented.

Ahmed Al Janahi, general manger, media relations, Batelco Group, said: “Email is a vital tool for organisations and individuals’ communications today but unfortunately the problem of spam activity continues to grow resulting in harming both the service providers and the end users.”

“Batelco has therefore invested in this world-class anti-spam solution to guarantee that customers can send and receive emails to and from all locations and service providers with no concerns about being affected by spam or any related issues; hence ensuring that email usage remains safe and secure.”

Batelco will automatically implement the anti-spam solution on all internet traffic. – TradeArabia News Service
