Etisalat distributes goody bags to children
Dubai, July 5, 2012
UAE-based telecommunications company, Etisalat, through its exclusive kid’s channel, e-junior, recently distributed special Haq Al Lailah goody bags to ill children, orphans, and children with special needs.
This is in line with Etisalat’s humanitarian efforts, a statement from the company said. The initiative was taken in collaboration with Al Rahma Charity Organisation, Beit Al Khair Society, Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, Zayed Higher Organisation for Humanitarian Care & Special Needs, and Special Family Support Group.
The team visited the sick and children with special needs in Latifa Hospital, Rashid Pediatric Therapy Center, and UAE Down Syndrome Center, the statement said.
Kids were surprised by the visit of their favourite cartoon character ‘Dana’ from ‘Dana & Friends’ and received Haq Al Lailah hampers, it said. The activity and goodies were sponsored by Dana& Friends, Staedtler, Tiffany, Pappy Snack and e-junior.
E-junior also organised a creative art contest for its viewers in celebration of Haq Al Lailah. Children used their creativity and designed their own hand-made candy bags using recycled material. The best bags were awarded e-junior goodies and sponsored prizes from Dreamland Aqua Park, Staedtler and Fun City.
Fatiha Bensalem, senior manager, Etisalat TV Services, said: “Etisalat has been at the forefront of celebrating cultural events and inculcating traditional values in the children of this nation. The magic of Haq Al Lailah is a great time to get together with children of all age groups without exclusions, share and enjoy the occasion to the fullest.”
“It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect children to their cultural roots and the UAE’s traditions, while having fun. At Etisalat, we look forward to introducing many more initiatives through which we can connect with our customers,” she said.
Haq Al Lailah which literally means ‘For this Night’ is a traditional celebration in the Middle East 15 days prior to month of Ramadan. On this occasion, children go around their neighborhood to fill their handmade candy bags with treats.
