Huawei, Wataniya deploy internet solution
Kuwait City, April 23, 2012
Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, and Wataniya Telecom have announced the successful deployment of Huawei’s internet cache solution on Wataniya’s networks infrastructure.
As Kuwait’s leading mobile telecommunications operator, Wataniya Telecom is focused on advancing in two key areas: mobile broadband service deployment and evolution to LTE mobile technology, a statement from the company said.
By implementing Huawei’s solution, which features a smooth-evolution cache platform and fast-response local service network, Wataniya will be able to provide mobile users with an enhanced high-speed internet experience and a plethora of service applications; all the while increasing its return on investment through expanded bandwidth and traffic reductions of more than 50 per cent.
Hisham Siblini, chief technology officer, Wataniya Telecom, said: “The rapid development of mobile broadband services requires carrier networks to bear tremendous traffic as well as ensure an excellent user experience. Designed for a smooth expansion, Huawei’s Internet Cache Solution enables us to exploit existing network facilities and provide more on-demand services to our users.”
The solution is designed to resolve traffic cache and acceleration challenges on carrier networks. The industry-first solution offers simultaneous support with its traffic localisation mechanism to high-volume traffic applications, including HTTP, online video and P2P applications.
“Mobile networks are more popular than ever and user experience is one of the major motivational factors that drive the industry forward,” said Pan Yong, CTO of Huawei Kuwait. “As networks are fundamental to an operator’s success in mobile broadband, Huawei promotes the sustainable development of mobile broadband services through structural innovations and continuous cost reductions for its customers.”
Huawei’s solution has been implemented by other world-leading telecom operators such as M1 Singapore and China Mobile, to fulfill the dual goals of alleviating outgoing internet traffic pressure and improving internet user experience, helping to strengthen the capabilities of telecoms operators. – TradeArabia News Service
