Brocade unveils new campus network switches

Dubai, March 7, 2012

Brocade, a leading networking solutions company, has introduced two new switches designed to simplify the campus network edge by easing operations and management.

The new switches ICX 6430 and ICX 6450 incorporate Brocade's vision of The Effortless Network with Brocade HyperEdge technology, a statement said.

Sufian Dweik, regional manager Mena, Brocade said: "The world has moved to mobile devices. This places huge pressure on corporate networks as they are the entry point for users to access applications and information.”

“Increased performance and reduced complexity in these corporate networks supports the fast adoption and effective delivery of cloud-enabled applications, virtualisation, unified communications and BYOD. Brocade's HyperEdge technology is a revolutionary new approach to corporate networks that reduces complexity and cost while increasing performance.”

“We believe that these products will enable us to capitalize on the huge growth potential of the campus LAN market,” he added.

Brocade's Effortless Network vision is based on three principles - simplified and automated networks, easy scalability which results in an extended network infrastructure lifecycle and finally 'no-compromise' solutions that offer 'enterprise-class' functionality at a very high business value.

Brocade ICX switches offer an ease of use, features and functionality that are superior to all other products currently available in the market. Two stand-out features that provide investment protection and reduced operational costs are the 'mix-and-match stacking' and single-point management capabilities.

Customers buying HyperEdge ICX switches can mix and match premium and entry-level switches within a single stack, so that entry-level switches inherit all of the feature richness of the premium switches in the stack at great value price points.

As opposed to a rip-and-replace strategy, this creates an investment protection by extending the lifespan of the switching infrastructure from around three years to around seven to ten years.

Single-point management enables users to manage their entire access switching layer as if it were a single device, from initial deployment to ongoing configuration, software upgrades and monitoring.

HyperEdge technology will be available on the stackable switch portfolio, including the Brocade ICX and Brocade FCX switch families, through a simple software upgrade when it becomes available next year, according to the statement. – TradeArabia News Service
