Summit to discuss global ICT trends

Dubai, February 20, 2012

Leading players from the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector will discuss the global mega trends and their impact on regional organizations at the 'Middle East CIO Summit 2012' in Fujairah, UAE.

The summit is being hosted by leading market intelligence and advisory firm International Data Corporation (IDC) at the Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort, Fujairah from February 20 to 21.

The summit will focus on the global ICT mega trends and their impact on regional organizations and explore the ways chief information officers (CIOs) in the region are using technology and emerging service delivery models to build efficiencies into their IT organizations and the business as a whole.

IDC will also share its latest market findings from discussions with leading CIO's from across the Middle East during the session titled “Driving the CIO Agenda for Business Success”.

Steven Frantzen, senior VP, Research, IDC (EMEA Region), MD (CEMA Region), and Jyoti Lalchandani, , VP and Regional Managing Director, IDC Middle East, Africa, and Turkey, will lead the session, which will detail how the economic outlook, new technologies, and shifting enterprise strategies are reshaping IT buying decisions.

IDC had yesterday held a panel discussion to outline the key topics for the summit. It also organised special presentations to highlight the ICT megatrends that are affecting the regional and global industry.

Frantzen examined the state of the ICT business and summarized some of the key trends and factors influencing the worldwide ICT market, particularly the four technology game changers – cloud, mobile, social, and analytics.

Lalchandani also conducted a presentation that provided an executive-level view of the ICT landscape in the Middle East, based on insights from IDC’s latest market findings.

The summit has lined up experts including Kirk Campbell, IDC president and CEO who is visiting the UAE for the first time to personally address the participants; Mohammed Amin, VP, GM ( Turkey, Emerging Africa) and Middle East, EMC2; Dave Brooke, GM of Dell ME & Turkey; Khaldoun Aboul-Saoud, regional market development manager – Intel; Eyad Shihabi, MD (HP Mideast) and Dr Montassar BenMrad, partner Strategic Deals Leader MEA, IBM Global Business Services.-TradeArabia News Service
