New phase of Arabic domain registration to begin

The UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) will open the fourth phase of the registration of Arabic domain name dotEMARAT on November 13.
This phase will give everyone the chance to register in the Arabic domain name dotEMARAT, it said.
Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, TRA director general said: “We are pleased to announce our approval for the launch of the fourth and the last phase of the registration in the Arabic domain name dotEMARAT. We hope that this phase will be a starting point for a new era in the internet world. In this regard, the TRA is very keen to meet the requests of all companies and entities willing to join this service. Our aim is to serve all customers adhering to best practices and methods.
“We would like to stress again on the great importance of this phase, as it represents a turning point in supporting the usage and the spread of the Arabic language on a wide level. This, of course, will grant us the opportunity to empower our leading position in the region and the whole world, as we contribute to spreading the Arabic language on all levels, and serving those who speak it,” added Al Ghanim.
The TRA has recently finished the third phase of registration in the Arabic domain name dotEMARAT. The Landrush phase, which started on September 4 and ended on October 3, enabled individuals and companies to apply for special and public domain names.
The second phase was called Sunrise, and was exclusive for Registered Trademark owners in the UAE and the Arab countries. The second phase, which ended on May 31, witnessed the registry of regional and international leading trademark companies of their Arabic dotEmarat domain names.
Furthermore, the first phase of registration was dedicated for government bodies including ministries, federal authorities, local services and authorities, as well as institutions wholly owned by governmental agencies. It ended on October 14, 2010. - TradeArabia News Service
