Batelco says Internet service normal

Manama, September 29, 2011

Batelco, the leading telecom operator in Bahrain, yesterday (September 28) said its business customers did not face any connectivity issue in spite of damage caused to an undersea fibre cable.

“Services for our Global MPLS customers were automatically diverted to alternative routes as part of Batelco’s best business practice which ensures resilience in the face of such unforeseen circumstances as a cable snapped,” said group media relations general manager Ahmed Al Janahi.

“Batelco’s services are fully supported by our network operations centre which monitors all services round-the-clock, allowing engineers to react immediately to deliver world-class telecommunications services,” he said.

He said investment in three international cable systems, a satellite earth station and additionally three diverse paths to access international connectivity, ensures customers are provided with a world-class communications system.

“Our multi-million dollar investments in multiple cable systems with significant diversity, expert network planning and extremely responsive restoration initiatives have protected Batelco customers from disconnection with the rest of the world,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
