Batelco to upgrade voice, data network

Manama, September 27, 2011

Bahrain's leading telecom operator Batelco will start upgrading its next generation voice and data network as part of its strategy to enhance communication service on global standards.

Announcing this on Tuesday, Batelco Group general manager Ahmed Al Janahi said, 'Owing to the modernisation work being carried out from October 3 to 21, the customers may face disruption of some of its services in selected areas of Bahrain.'

The services likely to face disruption include business broadband, MPLS, ISDN primary and ISDN Basic.

'To minimise the impact on Batelco’s business and residential customers the upgrade work will take place between 12am and 6am lasting for approximately 10 minutes per outage,' Al Janahi explained.

The areas to be affected during the first week are:
(October 3)- A’Ali, Abu Maher, Awali and Central Hawar
(October 5)- Bahrain Financial Harbour, Hamala, Hidd, Isa Town, World Trade Centre
(October 7)- City Centre Bahrain, Dumistan, Lozi, Muharraq, Rasroman, West Riffa

“We apologise for any inconvenience the work may cause and appreciate the understanding and cooperation of our customers,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
