Batelco backs CP scholarship programme

Manama, September 25, 2011

Batelco, Bahrain’s leading telecommunications provider, said it will continue to support the Crown Prince International Scholarship Programme (CPISP), as part of its ongoing commitment to educational initiatives in the Kingdom.

A group of CPISP recipients have recently completed two months of work experience at Batelco as part of the action learning programme.

The programme is an educational process where participants study their own actions and experiences in the workplace in order to improve their performance.

The summer learning initiative teamed-up CPISP recipients with representative from major companies in Bahrain, including Batelco, to work on real business challenges.

The programme culminated with the students making their presentations at the Crown Prince’s Court in front of executives from the participating companies and CPISP officials.

Also in attendance were Minister of Finance Shaikh Ahmed Bin Mohamed Al Khalifa and EDB CEO Shaikh Mohamed Bin Essa Al Khalifa.

Batelco Group general manager Media Relations Ahmed Al Janahi said that the Batelco management team was impressed by the calibre of work carried out by the CPISP students.

“The students were diligent and responsible and endeavoured to do their very best with their assigned tasks. It was very worthwhile to witness their efforts and support their career aims,” he remarked.

One of the participants, Ali Baqeri, said that his summer in Batelco had been more than anything, a much needed reality check.

“It taught me what to expect in a working environment, what to overlook and what to embrace. I can assertively claim that I am a more aware and mature person today thanks to Batelco.”

Another participant, Mariam Maki said that working with Batelco was an amazing experience.

“Not only was the challenge presented to the team extremely relevant to the country's economic atmosphere in general, it was well designed to allow the students to learn and develop critical skills as they worked.”

“Furthermore, the assistance of Batelco staff added an amazing dimension to the internship; their professionalism, knowledge, and constant support provided a very effective learning environment,” she added.

Esra’a Al Sabah, gained much from the Batelco experience saying, “It's a welcoming community that works hard to achieve the best and because Batelco strives to do that, it encouraged me to do everything I can to achieve the best results and solve any problems that hinder me on the way.”

A fourth participating student, Wael Al Jishi, said that the experience and knowledge gained from the internship would definitely be put to good use in the future, and that it was an honour to be part of one of Bahrain's leading companies.

Since the formation of the CPISP, Batelco has been a keen supporter and has donated significant funds to assist with the success of the innovative programme.-TradeArabia News Service
