Doha, June 2, 2011
The Supreme Council of Information Technology (ictQatar) presented the six winners of its “Innovation Theatre” contest held on the sidelines of a recently concluded major ICT exhibition in Doha.
Organise by ictQatar, the first edition of ICT expo Qitcom 2011 was held at the Doha International Exhibition Center under the theme “Innovate”, “Connect” and “Transform”.
“Qitcom 2011 has paved the way for a new breakthrough in Qatar’s ICT sector as this event served as an excellent platform for furthering investments, discussing the best ways to face the current challenges, nurturing new ICT companies and developing Arabic digital content in general,” said Dr Hessa Sultan Al Jaber, secretary general of ictQatar.
“Qatar may play a pivotal role in creating and transferring digital content. We are looking forward to attracting more of the ICT leaders to Qatar through establishing an Information Free Zone, knowing that major research center projects are currently underway in order to produce digital content for the internet and that we are confident of our country’s potential of being a main hub for ICT,” she added.
During the event, several Qitcom 2011 individual and corporate participants received awards that reflected the choice of the visitors who were involved in selecting a group of winners in a number of categories.
The winners of the ictQatar Digital Content Innovation Theater will be announced soon, with the first place winner to be inducted into the ictQatar Incubation Programme and securing over $50,000 in services.
ictQatar announced that “Qitcom 2012” will be held in March next year at the Qatar National Convention Center of Qatar Foundation. – TradeArabia News Service
