Toshiba wins Oman IT deal

Muscat, May 5, 2011

Toshiba Gulf has won the tender for Oman’s Information Technology Authority’s (ITA) National PC Initiative, part of its digital strategy which began in 2003.

The PC initiative, launched in November last year, is the first of its kind in the GCC offering a fully funded programme for Omanis, a statement said.

The deal will see Toshiba providing mobile computing laptops to increase PC and digital literacy in various Omani society segments.

“It is a great privilege to be part of Oman’s digital strategy initiative as Toshiba is continually devoted to boosting digital access and literacy across the region,” said Santosh Varghese, regional general manager, Computer Systems Division, Toshiba Gulf.

“This unique initiative empowers the people of Oman and opens up many job opportunities. The deal is a testament to our continuous effort in supporting notable projects like the Oman National PC Initiative,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
