Du says internet back to full capacity
Dubai, April 6, 2011
Du, the UAE's integrated telecom service provider, said its internet services were now back to normal after repairs were successfully carried out by technicians at a damaged undersea cable.
The damage at the cable of Falcon Cable System, operated by Reliance Globalcom Company, on March 23, affected about 30 per cent of du's available internet capacity in the emirates despite the company rerouting its traffic over other available links.
The telecom company confirmed the cable was fully repaired on April 3. However, the system was put under observation for over 20 hours and 'was now fully back in action.'
In a message, Reliance Globalcom spokesperson apologised for the inconvenience and stated that 'the proactive measures we took to repair the issue have been successful, returning internet operations in the region to full capacity.'-TradeArabia News Service
