The number of mobile phone subscriptions in Egypt grew to 70.66 million as of last December, 27.7 per cent up from a year earlier, according to government figures.

In December 2009, Egypt's three mobile operators  -- Etisalat Egypt, Mobinil and Vodafone Egypt -- had 55.352 million subscribers.
