Aftron launches new tablet in UAE

Dubai, March 1, 2011

Aftron, Al-Futtaim group’s market-leading consumer electronics brand, has announced the UAE-wide launch of its new tablet computer.

The A-TAB will allow users to browse the web, read and send email, watch videos, listen to music, play games and read e-books, among others, a statement said.

“The tablet computer is now more affordable than ever before. The A-TAB will change the way people surf the internet and the state-of-the-art technology will provide a rich user experience,” said Ajoy Mathew, general manager, Aftron.

“We are committed to providing our customers with the best and most advanced technology and the A-TAB is an exceptional piece of equipment at a very attractive price point.”

The A-TAB runs on the Android 2.1 operating system and features a seven-inch screen, while the touch screen controls allow users to interact with the applications and content.
Every app works in portrait and landscape switching between views as the user rotates the A-TAB in any direction.

The touch screen controls make surfing the web easier, interactive and more intimate than on a desktop PC. Users can watch movies and TV shows and can connect to the internet using a Wi-Fi network. The A-TAB also features the Aldiko e-book reader application enabling users to download and read thousands of books.

The device features 4GB of built-in internal memory and comes with a USB 2.0 and MicroSD card slot upgradable up to 16GB. The A-TAB is 0.48 inches thick and weighs 0.5 kg. – TradeArabia News Service
