Batelco to offer new music service
Manama, September 26, 2010
UrFilez, a leading digital music service, has announced a partnership with Batelco, Bahrain’s leading telco, for a new service.
UrFilez will offer users content from local, regional and major international labels in Digital Rights Management (DRM) free MP3 format, on-demand streaming and personalized radio mobile applications for Blackberry, iPhone and Android users.
“It’s a significant step for us and puts UrFilez well ahead of the curve, as we are providing a service which has not yet been available in the Middle East,” said Hassan Miah, founder and chief executive officer of UrFilez.
“With Batelco as our regional telco partner, UrFilez will be able to expand our offer throughout the emerging markets where we have no competitors. There are almost 3 billion people in the emerging markets that UrFilez is targeting and over half are under 25 years of age, which means there is a huge potential audience of music consumers,” he said.
Batelco chief executive Bahrain Gert Rieder said that Batelco knows its customers love music and want an easy way to get it.
Batelco, which will provide UrFilez music service through its network, will launch the service soon, he said. The service will cost just BD1 extra per month for Batelco subscribers.
“We are excited that UrFilez has developed a state of the art technology platform to make consumption of music easy for our customers, and have licensed millions of songs from all over the world. We believe this is going to be very popular with our subscribers and be a significant source of value added service revenue for Batelco.” -TradeArabia News Service
