Kulacom launches 'family safe' Internet

Amman, August 9, 2010

Kulacom Jordan, a leading integrated communications carrier, has launched a customised family safe Internet network that allows customers to manage exactly when and how much information can enter their homes.

The filtering solution is powered by NetSpark, a global provider of family safe and workplace appropriate Internet solutions.

“The Internet has become the greatest and most important source of knowledge,” said Hazim Alaeddin, Kulacom Jordan’s CEO.

“This obviously poses risks for some, especially for parents who are looking to protect their children from harmful or inappropriate content. We have done our homework and created a fully customized Family Safe Internet experience that can instantly be activated onto your CPE.”

The family safe Internet software is located on Kulacom’s core network, saving customers the hassle and frustration of downloads, installations and updates, the company said in a statement.

Customers can request the family safe Internet feature, which will provide them with a username and password in order to gain access to a filtering profile where they can customize their protection level to decide what types of content will enter or be barred from entering their home.

Alaeddin continued: “We take a different approach to online safety by helping parents manage the grey areas of the Internet.”

“While our family safe network contains a comprehensive set of tools that allow parents to customize their protection level according to their specific needs, our service also provides a bilingual software that protects your children from Arabic and English websites, provides greater protection from harmful and unwanted content, and offers uninterrupted regular Internet usage including Web 2.0,” he added.

According to the 2010 Norton Online Family Report, a study on how children around the world are spending more time online, revealed that 62 per cent of children worldwide have had a negative online experience, the statement added. – TradeArabia News Service
