Zain Bahrain backs workers camp revamp
Manama, May 22, 2010
Zain Bahrain, a leading telecom service provider, donated BD3500 ($9,280) to the refurbishment of a workers’ camp as part of its humanitarian programme.
The requirements of the camp in the Salmabad area of Bahrain were identified by the Workers’ Welfare sub-committee of the Indian Ladies’ Association (ILA) who will assist in supervising the project.
“We shall be helping to refurbish the kitchens and toilet areas of the camp in which 150 workers live. In the process we hope to give them a safer and cleaner living space,” said Samya Hussain, Zain Bahrain’s corporate communications manager.
“This will include replacing the kitchen cabinets, painting the kitchens and providing a clean working space and repairing the leaks and drainage in the toilet area.”
The ILA has also generously donated not only its supervision skills but also BD300 as a contribution towards the smaller essential repairs in the camp.
“The plight of workers in the smaller camps is often difficult and by coming forward with such a generous humanitarian gesture, Zain Bahrain has set a wonderful example for us all,” said president Shanthini Raja. – TradeArabia News Service
