Batelco in tie-up for mobile marketing service

Manama, April 12, 2010

Batelco has partnered with Velti, a UK-based global leader in mobile marketing, to provide a smart mobile advertising service that ensures the delivery of relevant information to targeted audiences.

“The new Batelco service is a boon for advertising agencies and big organisations that can now benefit by delivering more targeted campaigns, connecting and engaging their brands with the right target audience, strengthening and building brand equity, campaign optimisation and instant results. Furthermore, mobile advertising is an acknowledged value for money method to reach customers,” said Batelco general manager Media & Government Relations Ahmed Al Janahi.

Batelco’s general manager Product Development & Strategy Hamza Ali explained that Batelco has already contacted their mobile customers via text messaging and several thousand of them have responded positively, expressing their willingness to receive advertising information and offers via their mobiles.

“As these customers have also indicated their areas of interest such as music, movies, cars, shopping etc., it makes it possible to send them only the information that is relevant for them,” he said.

“The new advertising channel is a very creative tool facilitating the sending of not only text messages, but also MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) and web pages. This adds a whole new dimension to traditional text advertising by introducing colourful, pictorial messages and web pages with links to see more detailed information or to avail of special offers etc.,” Ali said.

“All campaigns presented for delivery to the public will go through an approval process to ensure quality of the content,” stated Al Janahi.

“We have received very positive responses from mobile users who see targeted mobile advertising as their link to the information they want and need, and the ideal and most efficient way to ensure they never miss any special deals from their preferred brands, bank or airlines.”

As an added bonus for customers who have opted in to receive information from advertisers, Batelco will be offering them regular promotions and special campaigns.

The innovative service benefits all mobile users by enabling them to only receive the type of information that interests them, thus helping to eliminate spam messages, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
