Zain sees growth in borderless mobile network
Manama, February 23, 2010
Zain Bahrain, a leading telecom services provider, has seen a significant rise in usage of its borderless mobile network service with rising activity in the Bahrain-Saudi Arabia corridor.
Zain’s One Network allows Zain customers in Bahrain as well as in Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Jordan, Sudan and other African countries to make calls and send messages at local rates, top up with local recharge vouchers and access home network services for free, a statement said.
These are major features, not provided by any other operator in the region, and available to Zain Bahrain and other 65 million Zain customers, the statement added.
In addition, Zain’s customers have been making good use of the data access service built into the One Network platform which allows data access at local rates (cross-border GRX- based data access), saving themselves up to a 97 per cent on telecom bills compared to the current data access roaming charges in the market.
By this, traveling customers can access high-speed Internet, emails, BlackBerry, MMS, Zain Create and other data services at the local rate of the country they are in.
The service is not only for Zain Bahrain customers, but also for all Zain customers from and traveling to Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan and Sudan.
“We are delighted that our customers have already reaped the benefits from cross-border data services across the Middle East on the award winning ‘One Network’ platform,” said Ayman Al Alawi, Zain Bahrain’s International roaming manager. – TradeArabia News Service
