Batelco extends number flexibility service
Manama, November 1, 2009
Batelco, Bahrain’s leading telecommunications company, is extending its ‘number flexibility service’ for ISDN lines.
With this new service, ISDN Business or Residential subscribers can retain their phone numbers when they move to a new location within the same domain. The service was first introduced for fixed line customers last October.
Bahrain has been divided into two main domains within which customers can retain their numbers when they move. However, when moving from one domain to another they would be required to change their number. Moreover, customers can choose from a wider range of available numbers to change their existing number to a ‘nice’ number, said a statement.
Customers who are considering moving locations are advised to contact Batelco’s retail shops or their account managers to confirm that the move is within the same domain in order to retain the same number, it said.
“Businesses with widely recognised numbers or households with distinguished numbers can relocate within their expanded domain, and take their number with them,” said Batelco group general manager media and government relations Ahmed Al Janahi.
Additionally, current and new customers can visit any Batelco Retail Shop and select a new number from the range available, including any available ‘nice’ numbers which belong to their relevant domain area, he said.
This flexibility has become a reality thanks to Batelco’s NGN (Next Generation Network), the company’s BD22 million project to upgrade the kingdom’s telecoms infrastructure, that was completed earlier this year. Batelco is now rolling out a number of enhancements with many more to come in the future, he said. – TradeArabia News Service
