Blue Coat Systems, a leading application delivery networking firm, has been ranked the leader in worldwide market share for WAN application delivery for the first quarter of calendar year 2009 by IDC, a major market research firm.

According to the recently issued IDC report, “Worldwide WAN Application Delivery 2008 and 1Q09 Vendor Share,” Blue Coat was the market leader for the first quarter of 2009 and was second in market share for the full calendar year of 2008.

For the first quarter of 2009, IDC reports Blue Coat in the number one position with 29.5 per cent market share on $67.4 million in revenue.

"Blue Coat established itself as the market leader in the first quarter of 2009,” said Lucinda Borovick, vice president of data centre networks, IDC. “This leadership results from a differentiated value proposition for the distributed enterprise.”

"Blue Coat is delivering on its strategy to include visibility as a key principle of its application delivery network infrastructure."

"Our vision for the application delivery network addresses today’s WAN optimisation challenges and enables distributed enterprises to contain costs, realize more value from their existing network investments and enhance productivity by delivering business applications as expected," said Nidal Taha, Middle East regional director of Blue Coat Systems.
