QSAT picks iDirect for its broadband service
Doha, July 21, 2009
QSAT, a leading satellite service provider based in Qatar, has selected iDirect's next-generation Evolution network, to launch its satellite broadband service covering Middle East, North Africa and parts of Europe.
The network enables the company to meet demand for high-speed IP connectivity from financial institutions, oil and gas companies, and other enterprise customers in the region's growing market.
VT iDirect, a company of VT Systems, is a world leader in satellite-based IP communications technology.
The launch of QSAT's network follows the recent deregulation of the telecommunications industry in Qatar. A deregulated market has cleared the way for satellite service providers like QSAT to meet the growing demand for additional bandwidth for a variety of government and enterprise communications needs in the region.
QSAT can now offer advanced services to remote sites, filling the communications gap in Qatar's rapidly growing enterprise market, where terrestrial service is unable to reach.
'Emerging markets are beginning to realize the tremendous cost and service advantages of using VSAT. The iDirect platform provides all the benefits of VSAT with advanced features that enable QSAT to offer higher Service Level Agreements to meet the demands of our customers,' said Ali A Hadi, chief of QSAT.
'An Evolution network allows QSAT to efficiently distribute bandwidth to support critical economic growth while maximizing its return on investment,' added Dean Griffler, senior vice president of Global Sales, iDirect.-TradeArabia News Service
