Batelco offers faster Net connection

Manama, June 15, 2009

Batelco, Bahrain’s leading telecom services provider, has launched packages offering faster Internet access in Bahrain.

'The new 10 Mbps (megabytes per second) package is the top of the range in a line-up of revamped packages, offering choices from 256 Kbps (kilobytes) all the way up to 10 Mbps,' said Batelco Bahrain chief executive officer Gert Rieder.

The new range of packages has been matched with the most competitive prices, with 90 per cent reductions on 'over threshold' rates, he said.

'Our existing customers will be automatically migrated to the new packages to benefit from higher speeds and more usage at lower prices, with up to 90pc discount,' Rieder added.

'Through this enhancement every Batelco high-speed customer will enjoy higher speed at a lower price.'

For example, customers who are currently subscribed to the 2 Mbps/BD60 ($159) per month package will be automatically upgraded to a double speed of 4 Mbps, at a reduced price of BD50, said Rieder.

Batelco products and services general manager Adel Daylami said the enhanced packages had been designed as part of new developments, following the completion of the company's Next Generation Network (NGN).

'We had promised customers new deals following the completion of our NGN migration, and we are now delivering on that promise,' Daylami said. – TradeArabia News Service
