Samena summit discusses wireless broadband

Samena Telecommunications Council has announced that top issues regarding wireless broadband were conferred at the Broadband Wireless Summit 2009, which concluded today (March 2).
The multi-continent telecom association’s event was held at the Phoenicia Hotel, Beirut under the patronage of Eng Gebran Bassile, Minister of Telecommunication of Lebanon.
The summit registered very large participation from telecom stakeholders, regulators and operators from Lebanon and the Samena region.
The discussions revolved around WiMax, UMB, LTE and their deployment strategies as well as various aspects of the wireless broadband industry including standardisation of broadband systems, service delivery strategies and network deployment.
“The Summit witnessed participation from leading wireless industry experts, key decision makers, regulators and CEOs representing some of the leading organisations in the region such as Etisalat, STC, Jordan Telecom Group, Mada, Cerdarcom, Samsson, Motorola, wi-tribe, Cisco, Huawei Technologies and Mobinil among others,” said Thomas Wilson, Samena CEO and executive managing director.
“The inaugural edition of the Broadband Wireless Summit 2009 marks Samena’s first event in Lebanon and we are extremely grateful to all the representatives of the wireless industry, especially the speakers, sponsors and participants for contributing to the success of this summit,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
